Maria passed away on June 12th, 2001 after courageously battling cancer for 5 years. She enriched our lives with her strong sense of what is right, with her humor which she exercised to the end, and with her certainty that she would go on, that she would be OK, and that there is no reason to mourn her.
Maria cared deeply for her family, her friends and for anyone who needed help. She had strong beliefs and opinions and was not bashful about making them known. She was beautiful and dynamic, philosophical and exuberant, and she was loved as a daughter, a sister and a friend.
Most of all she showed incredible courage in her battle with cancer, was successful in her battle for 5 years, and never wavered in her conviction that should she lose the battle with cancer in this body she would return and continue in a new life.
